The BECKER era...
Dan & I's chance meeting was spawned in 2005 when my brother Keith met Dan through their involvements with Guitar Center. Becker, who was seeking to fill a repairman position asked Keith if he knew of anyone who could repair guitars. I got the phone call from Keith in the fall of 2005. I saved Dan's number in my phone with no real intentions of ever contacting him.
For months I continued plugging away as the maintenance guy for my parents rental business and moonlighting by night at instrument making. It took the greif of failure and actually hugging a toilet to make me realize that I had fallen away from my calling. I was installing a toilet for my parents in one of their rental properties and was having a hell of a time getting it to seat to the floor correctly. Right then and there on the bathroom floor I gave Dan a call.
We chatted for over an hour about guitars & their problems and by the end of our conversation I made a commitment to venture the 8 hours to visit his repair shop in Stoughton MA.
